Breaking Free from the Lies

Harry Houdini’s experience of being trapped in a jail cell he believed to be locked was due to a lie. Similarly, people can be prisoners of their own minds, believing lies planted by Satan that hinder their true potential. The first step in winning the war of the mind is acknowledging these negative thoughts and rejecting them, replacing them with the truth that you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.

The War in Your Mind

In the battle to change negative habits, simply altering behavior won’t suffice; you must also change the beliefs driving that behavior. These beliefs are like the stronghold of an enemy city, and unless you capture them, you’ll soon relapse. However, by accessing God’s power, you can overcome these destructive beliefs. Through God’s guidance, you can launch an attack on the lies that Satan has embedded in your mind. Paul the Apostle reminds us that we possess the same powerful force that resurrected Jesus Christ, so when battling negative thoughts, don’t forget that you’re never alone, and with God’s aid, you can effectively conquer your inner demons.

Escaping Your Mental Rut

Do you find yourself stuck in negative thought patterns? You’re not alone. Our brains create neural pathways that reinforce these patterns, making it difficult to break the cycle. The first step is to understand how these pathways were formed. Reflect on where the thought originated and how it was reinforced over time. Luckily, there is a technique to break this cycle and establish healthy thought patterns. Find out how in the next part.

Winning the War in Your Mind

The key to winning the battle in your mind is by replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. This can be achieved by creating a “truth trench” that is based on the word of God. To create your truth trench, identify the neural pathways that support your negative thoughts and replace them with new, helpful pathways. Start by writing down verses from the Bible that address your area of concern, such as finances, and create a declaration that sums up the message of these verses. Repeat your declaration daily and everywhere you can until it becomes a new positive thought pattern and nourishes a healthy neural pathway. Even if it feels silly at first, keep going with your repetitions and eventually, you will believe that God’s word is your truth.
