By: Robert Lanza

Introduction

Embark on a captivating journey beyond convention as we delve into ‘Beyond Biocentrism: Rethinking Time, Space, Consciousness, and the Illusion of Death’ by Robert Lanza. This groundbreaking book poses thought-provoking questions about the nature of the universe, time, space, and the role of consciousness. Challenging long-held beliefs, the author puts forth an intriguing perspective on the significance of conscious life in shaping the universe. Explore revolutionary insights from quantum mechanics, ancient wisdom, as well as the mind-bending mysteries of entanglement and nonlocality – all playing a part in reshaping our understanding of reality.

Rethinking Reality

As science uncovers new phenomena, traditional beliefs regarding time, space, and the origins of the universe are being challenged. The idea of biocentrism, which posits that everything exists within consciousness and observation, is gaining traction in scientific circles. This ancient understanding of consciousness is being newly explored and may usher in a new era of perception and understanding.

The Universe, Consciousness, and Life

Life and consciousness didn’t arise by chance in an uncaring universe. Rather, they created the cosmos and have always been its foundation. The big bang theory fails to explain the origins of complex life and consciousness or what came before. Science continually disproves old theories and beliefs. The idea of getting an entire universe and matter/energy from nothingness is absurd. People and living things are part of the universe, proven by centuries of observation and the teachings of ancient philosophers like Aristotle who stated that humans construct time. Quantum physics confirms this observation today. Indian philosophers taught oneness with everything, and the existence of eternal consciousness rather than life and death. Realizing this connection is the ultimate goal of life.

The Illusion of Time

Time is a concept created by humans to organize life and events. It is not a tangible reality. Entropy does not prove its existence, and order can’t prevail in a world where randomness exists. Time is a construct that changes according to circumstances, and it only exists because humans created it.

Time, once believed to structure the universe, is now known to be a mere human construct for organizing life and events. The concept of minutes, hours, and days represents an arbitrary construct created by humans themselves. Human constructs of time change according to circumstances, slowing as one approaches the speed of light. This implies that time is subjective and malleable, and its existence only temporary.

Entropy has been proposed by some to prove the existence of time as a constant. Still, it is not a valid argument since disorder represents the natural state of things. Ludwig Boltzmann, the physicist who conceptualized entropy, argued that disorder is much more prevalent than order and that randomness has nothing to do with time. Disorder is what we ought to expect; hence, time cannot be defined by entropy.

Consider an arrow’s motion through the air. If time were real, the arrow would have to stop repeatedly at every moment to exist precisely somewhere in its flight. Its constant movement proves the construct of time, not its reality. The universe is unpredictable, and time only exists as a human construct.

Consciousness Creates the Universe

The emergence of quantum mechanics in modern science has validated the ancient biocentric view of the universe, denying separateness of objects in favor of a single “Being” consisting of everything. Quantum mechanics shows that consciousness creates the universe and particles behave similarly. Particles known as entanglements fly apart but always do exactly the same thing at exactly the same time. The observer’s consciousness determines the movement and location of particles, suggesting that consciousness creates time and space. Every experiment confirms this, proving that the mind’s influence over seemingly separate matter is the only explanation.

The Mysterious Character of Space

Space is not empty, but teeming with invisible energy that connects everything. It is sizeless and proves unreliable as a means of gauging distance or position. Scientists have disproven the existence of ether in space and instead believe in the powerful and pervasive dark energy that pervades it. The Earth itself is emptier than space as photons and gravity waves crowd the cosmos. The farthest regions of space are located within our minds, and space is part of a continuum of consciousness. Space is not what we think it is; it is vibrant and full of invisible energy. Picture it as neither endless nor definable but teeming with life.
